Sibeh Funny

Disclaimer: No I am not taking part in any union elections, for any of those people from uni who may happen to be reading this. As much as I am for democracy, I really don't give a damn about a bunch of 18-year-olds trying to get good CVs by the power of their huge mouths.

~~~
OK so it's 12.45 am, I have a class tomorrow morning and an essay due in next week. I really shouldn't be blogging at all, now should I?
Wait first lah, got something funny to show you all.
Now...
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT TO VOTE SOMEONE NAMED "TOOLAN" INTO ANY POSITION!?!?!?!!??!
Vote "Toolan" as communications and internal affairs officer?
Haha don't want lah. Nanti he don't know how to do his job well and then we all will TOOLAN.
I Won't Be Home for CNY
Although the title bears a striking resemblance to Louie's post "I won't be home for Christmas", I'm not gonna post up song lyrics. I'm just kinda homesick is all :(
So what have I been doing? Nothing really. Exams finished a few weeks ago and my daily schedule is pretty much back to normal now.
So, no CNY celebration for me this year. No reunion dinner, no angpaus, no junk food. Waaaaa!!!!!!!!!
OK OK since I'm obviously gonna bore you with my incessant whining, I'm just gonna post up some pics instead...
Fabia's birthday. Halfway through dancing, when my hair looked really bad, someone took a picture of us and we wound up on a clubbing website. >.< Crap betul.
Went to Nottingham for a day trip with Saad, Oana and her friend Dimitris a couple weeks ago...
The famous Robin Hood
The oldest inn in England...supposedly.
At Nottingham Castle, with a lion that Saad said looks scared. XD
With the lion's twin. My ugly face is deliberate, I swear.
At the Galleries of Justice. I told sweetie that this was a very interesting exhibit, and his expression became like this:
0.o!!!!
Hehehehe ;)
There's a room filled with mugshots of convicts in the Galleries of Justice.
Not all of them are from the days of black-and-white photos though.
Hehehehehhehe.
For those of you who are a bit slow on the uptake, look at the bottom left hand corner =D
Oana's one-eyed gingerbread man!!!!!! So cute :P
And finally, I realised that the Leeds city council has a sense of humour too.
Or maybe, they're just venting frustration at troublesome residents.
Hahaha. =P
~~~
Happy Chinese New Year in advance to everyone!!!!! Missing you guys at home so so so so much!!!!!

Like That

Exams over!!!!!! Yaaayyyyyyyy :P

~~~
Couldn't sleep last night. AGAIN. I think I'm gonna need to see a psychiatrist or something soon for insomnia treatment.
First, I had the song "The Saga Begins" by Weird Al Yankovich stuck in my head. I swear, having the lyrics "My, my, this here Anakin guy, may be Vader someday later now he's just a small fry" playing over and over in your brain is enough to make anyone want to swear.
And then after that, I started to think about going back in June. As in, what to eat when I go back (yes, I am a true Malaysian after all lol).
At first I was planning what to eat for each meal within the first one week of going home.
Then after that my brain just went crazy and my thought process just looked something like this:
Nasi lemak kari laksa roti canai roti cheese roti milo tose roti tisu chicken rice chee cheong fun wan tan mee sizzling yee mee char koay teow mee goreng nasi goreng ayam nasi goreng kampung koay teow soup maggi mee maggi goreng indomie goreng cendol ice kacang satay ayam rendang asam laksa butter fish fried rice tau foo fah yong tau foo fried wantan fried fish ball Uncle Bob's fried chicken cai tou gao oh jien chilli crab steam boat wa tan hor hokkien mee siew mai char siew pau pearl milk tea durian tomyam fried rice bak kut teh yao zha guai claypot rice teh tarik teh o limau ais mango loh yam cake yam basket butter prawn sotong rings nasi briyani nasi kandar papadam karipap nyonya kuih............
.....................................
HOW TO SLEEP LAH LIKE THAT?!?!?!?!?!??!! T_____T
Of Exams and Hot Guys
Have you ever had a really, really, really, REALLY good dream, only to be woken up halfway through knowing you HAVE to get up?
To put it in Celina's words, it's like falling out of heaven. 0.o
I had this dream the other day about the one and only, Wang Lee Hom. :D
Hotness.
Ahem. I won't go into any major details about the dream, except that I was at a concert of his. Haha. Then I went online and found out that I actually missed his latest promo tour in KL.
Tu lan aaarrrr.
But as for what happened in the dream, um, let's put it this way (OK I know all you horny people out there are thinking horny things. IT WASN'T HORNY OK -__-).
If I were to ask someone if it could ever happen in real life, that someone would say...
"IN YOUR DREAMS LAH!"
T__T
~~~

Told Sue-Anne about the dream, and she told me about this dream of hers she had once.

SA: Yeah I once dreamt that Jackie Chan asked me out

Me: Haahahaha

SA: And Owen Wilson was jealous.

Me: wtf??

SA: That was when Shanghai Noon just came out larr

Me: .............

~~~
Oh yeah, my subwarden is damn hot lah people (OK hope he doesn't ever read this after his head kembang pulak hahaha). So far Louie and Sue-Anne agree with me. Dunno what's wrong with me nowadays lah, exam time some more wanna look at hot guys. Ish.
Never mind lah, I got my own hot guy already.
Mwahahahahaha. XD
Insomnia Attack
Happy belated new year peeps!!!
~~~

It's 4.18am right now.

Why am I still up, you ask? Long story.

Basically, I've gotten so used to sleeping at 4am-ish times, that I can't sleep any earlier no matter how tired I think I am. Told you my biological clock was screwed up.

Problem, though, is that I have exams starting this week. Now sleeping at 4am might not be the best strategy to scoring in your exams, unless of course you are a cram artist who drinks tons of coffee (speaking of which, I miss quality coffee...but never mind that).

So what I've decided to do is, I'm going to stay awake all through tonight AND today and try to sleep early tomorrow night. Smart, no?

*Kicks self*

What can I say. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

~~~
New Year's in Leeds was BORING. AAARRRGGHH!!! We watched the fireworks in LONDON from the big screen in Millennium Square. And in the city, they set off the fireworks where no one was looking. Cibai.
Me and sweetie at Millennium Square. That's the huge TV screen behind us. And why do I look so WHITE in this pic??? *blinks*
Ken and Saad. Dunno what they're doing. Trying to act cool or something. Haha :P
Anyway, it snowed in Leeds a few days ago!!! So happy lah, finally got snow!!! But little bit only, melted by afternoon :(
View from my window!!! Hehe. See the snow on my window. So cool wei. Should have collected some and kept in my freezer. Haha!
From the door of my hall.
The road leading up to my hall. Nice right all the snow on the roofs. =) So pwetty wei.
Anyway, dug out some rather old (around 1-month-ish) pics of our Bradford trip. Not many pics cos most of them came out rather blur, plus we weren't allowed to use cameras in the skating rink...no fair! Couldn't take pics of sweetie falling repeatedly hahaha :P
Funny mirror at the Museum of Media or something like that. This was like one of the few interesting parts haha. Saad, Vlad, me and Oana!
No Saad and Vlad aren't that tall. Firstly, the mirror 'stretches' your image (I want one of those lah! Boost self esteem only haha :P), and second they were standing on tiptoe. Cheaters!!!
The mirror that makes you short and stumpy.
" Oana: OMG this is my dream!!!!
  Me: Your dream is to look short and fat???
  Oana: Yes!!!
  Me: 0_o *thinking* lucky la all these skinny people...*grumble grumble* "
Haha er more random pics.
Sweetie hanging out in my room studying and looking cool. :P *hearts*
I on the other hand look stupid with the hat. Lol. No make up some more. >.<
Had this for dinner a couple of days ago. Damn yummy. Mm mm. Only thing is had to brush teeth before kissing sweetie hahaha. *blush*
12 pound leather jacket from Primark. Haha not bad lah, 12 pounds for a (fake) leather jacket consider quite OK ler. Eh but the boxing day sales was damn good leh. Bought a lot of stuff for half price, including a pair of jeans, a skirt and a proper winter jacket.
But the best deal of all was...
I BOUGHT A F*CKING SKIRT FOR 10 PENCE!!!!
OK convert to Malaysian ringgit...still comes out to 70 SEN only leh! Wah liew. Damn good find wei.
Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be papier mache or something hahaha. Next time when I wear it (when it's WARM enough) I'll take a pic haha.
OK lah I go now lah. Gonna try continue my marathon of consciousness haha. Study a bit.
Wish me luck lah. Hopefully by tomorrow my sleep/wake cycle will be back to normal.
~~~

PS: Might not blog for a while cos of exams. Expect me to be MIA for a couple of weeks.

PPS: Why is everyone so worried about me getting an accent?!?! Haiyo people can't you tell I still speak perfect Manglish?! >.< I grew up with some of the best Manglish speakers OK, won't lose my own accent so easily la...

PPPS: Dunno la but I miss my high school friends. Haih. :'(

Manchester Trip, and other ramblings

Well, I'm about halfway through the Xmas holidays now, and Leeds is officially one of the quietest places right now. I swear 3/4 of the population disappears during the holidays.

So what's new? Nothing really. Exams coming in less than a month, and I'm not exactly prepared. Actually, I'm not prepared at all. Been spending my days having fun, sleeping at 4am and waking up at 12, eating, online, sleeping, rinse and repeat. You get the picture.

On the other hand, Saad and I are getting pretty good at cooking now. From chicken rice to pasta to tom yum soup...I can do them all now!!!! Mwahaha.

(Aren't you all proud of me!?!?! I can cook now OK?!?!?!?)

Aaaaanyway, Saad, Ken and I decided to take a one-day trip to Manchester a while ago, so...pics time!!!

Outside Piccadilly train station. Dunno why Saad go and take some old Asian couple's punya pic :S

Some street in Manchester. Taken from bus window hehe.

Posh-looking place.

On the way to Manchester Museum. Ya lah I know we all looked like a bunch of dumb tourists, standing on street corners taking stupid pics. Shut up lah. >.<

Manchester Museum. It's actually part of the University, which I ALMOST went to but didn't in the end because Leeds' advertising was better. Lol no la, I liked Leeds more, some more got scholarship (which the damn fees office is STILL holding on to...geramnya!!!!!!). I know la, it was weird of me to put the uni with a lower entry grade on my firm choice and the one with the super duper high punya entry grade for my insurance. Kids, do not follow my example. >.<

Ken found his long-lost twin brother in the museum.

Copy of the bust of Nefertiti. The Egyptology section of the museum is really great. Saad and Ken have a lot more pics which I haven't gotten from them. Dunno lah, something about taking pics and 'ooh'-ing and 'aah'-ing tourist-ly at centuries-dead people offends me. Too many ethics courses already lah.

Manchester Eye.

Night view of Manchester!

OK two things first. One, for all you Man U fans out there, no I didn't go to Old Trafford (I'm gonna have some serious explaining to do to my uncle...). But I heard it's worth checking out, so if you have more time than we did I think you should go.

Two, Chinese buffets here suck. And they really rip you off. But I guess we gotta live with it lah...until next June (starts plotting evil scheme to stuff self with every single kind of Malaysian food when I get back next summer mwahaha).

OK finally...the adventurers...

Ken the barbarian Asian tourist geek (or so we named him during the trip :P). Barbarian 'cos he ate some sweets shaped like babies, tourist geek because he was walking around with a camera in one hand and a Lonely Planet guide under the other arm. *Facepalm*

Saad..trying to be a barbarian. Nyehehe.

Stupid pic came out blur because of Saad's hand. >.< Nah, my blur self lah.

~~~
On another note, the Great and Gorgeous One has recently realised that she and her sweetie are now into the 3rd month of their relationship.
*Imaginary audience goes "awwwww" in unison*
Lol whatever lah. Happy 3 (or so) months sweetie.
(Ok lah I know it's not the most flattering pic of use but what the heck lah. >.< I'm still gorgeous in real life OK. >.< Haven't put on 312309485 kilos from British food yet mwahaha proud of me or not??? >.< OK lah I shall stop rambling now)
~~~

I dreamt I went home today and I was going merayau-rayau in PJ with Nic again.

Then I woke up and I was still here (although I think my spirit was still in PJ as sweetie kept asking me if I was OK today lol). Damn sad lah T.T

I wanna go hooooooome...........

Defy the Stereotypes

It's when you meet so many different types of people in the same place that you start to realise how silly stereotypes are.

If only people at home could see that.

~~~
Going for Nottingham Games tomorrow! Won't be playing but I'll take lots of pictures, hehe.
~~~

Pics time!

My first attempt at Hainanese Chicken Rice! Yes I'm half Hainanese and I love chicken rice so sue me. Had a sudden craving for it one day and finally got around to cooking it a few days ago. The chicken was good!!!!! Celina and I kept sipping the leftover sauce even after all the chicken was gone hehe. Rice was kinda bland but we just dumped sauce on it :P

Big-ass chocolate-covered marshmallows from the Christmas market! Yum yum. 70pence each, but worth it!

Bak kut teh spotted at Wing Lee Hong, the Asian supermarket. I haven't had bak kut teh for ages!

But look closer...

1.39 x 7 = RM 9.73!!!

*terpengsan*

And finally...

My phone camera rocks.

Have a nice day!

Christmas Dinner!

Last night, the three catered on-campus halls had their Christmas Dinner. Yay!

Chocolate (in the green packets), sugar cubes and butter. Damn artistic right the butter. :P

The dinner was held in the Refectory, where we normally have our meals (i.e. bland pasta/bland pizza/bland potatoes/barely-cooked rice/super-duper tiny naan etc). For once, though, the chefs pulled out all the stops and actually served good food. Mmm.

Salmon and prawn brochette!!!!! *drools* the salmon ROCKED. Fresh as anything. And the prawns! I haven't had such good prawns since I left Malaysia. The sauce was sweet-ish and made the whole thing absolutely heavenly. Eating such delicious food after 3 months of bleh stuff was practically orgasmic, I tell you.

Steamed chicken burguignon. Not too bad (the chicken wasn't too tough for a change) and the gravy made it pretty good.

Vegetarian option. Not sure what this is but Saad said it was OK. *shrugs* I don't like veggies so this looks a bit scary to me :P

And for dessert...

Creme brulee!!! *drools again* Sweet as anything I tell you. Yum yum.

OK enough of food, time to move on to the people there...

Me and Saad, who's technically not living in any catered hall of residence on campus but since Su Wei couldn't go, she gave him her ticket. Oh well. He practically lives here anyway. 0.o

Me and Oana. Ignore the silly fella at the back. Please. :P

The Malaysians: Hannah, me and Chew Fatt

Fabia (from Italy) and Chihiro (from Japan, duh). They were doing something really weird before this, but unfortunately I couldn't catch it my camera. XD

Celina (HK) and Ken (Canada) eaing creme brulee! OK la I had to ask them to do this pose :P

Some of the girls of Dobree 6th floor: Amy (UK), Annabel (UK), Cassie (Singapore), me, Zoe (UK), Celina and Zein (Jordan)!

OK I was trying to lift Elaine up but looks like I'm not as strong as I believed. :P

Take two! :)

And lastly...

International students rock!
Top: Hannah, Celina, Oana, me, Saad and Chew Fatt
Bottom: OK I'm not really sure of the Japanese girls' names but I THINK it's Mariko, Yuki, Fabia, Chihiro, Ken and Sayuri. Someone correct me if I'm wrong :P

Oh in case you're wondering what we're doing in the picture, Chihiro has a signature squirrel pose and we were all trying to imitate her. LOL!

OK guess that's all for now, hope you enjoyed looking at the numerous pics that might have taken forever to load :P

Bye people!

PS: I found out how to make the salmon and prawn brochette!!!!!!! *drools*

PPS: I just looked at all the pics and realised my left eye seems smaller than my right!!!! T.T Have I always looked like that????!!! OMG... *points at self in mirror* FREEEEAAAAKK!!!! FRREEEEAAAAAAAAAKKK!!!!!! AAAAARRRGGHHH!!!!

Random Update

So after a few weeks of feeling guilty whenever I see my neglected bloggie, I decided to update you guys again with my life in Leeds. Well, OK, it was also partly due to a refusal to read anymore about fungi (I have an essay due on Monday >.<).

Life in Leeds, LS2 9JT is going great. We had a warm spell last week, but that's over now so it's back to being BLOODY ASS COLD. Plus the wind keeps blowing like crazy so it makes it that much worse.

Other than the really crazy weather, studies have been good so far. Uni life is good for some people, and some people includes me. :) My room has been suffering though, so I think I'll have to take some time to clean it up next week after the killer week during which an essay is due and I have two MCQ tests. Bah.

OK well pics say a thousand words so I shall post some up now. :)

~~~
At home, when you do well in a test, the teachers give you candy. Here they give you a big-ass bottle of beer. Lol. I got the highest in my Cell Bio class on a test, so my professor (who's a Belgian) gave this to me as a reward. Apparently it's really good Belgian beer, but I haven't opened it yet so I can't tell you how it tastes.
Went for a Raya celebration last weekend. It was held at some community hall and we had to walk a  L O N G way to get there. The food was DIVINE though. Proper Malaysian home-cooked food. *drools* That's Chew Fatt, me and Hannah in the pic. Notice my kebaya top. Mwahaha.
Me and Jason, another Malaysian guy I met here. He reminds me of my uncle. >.< I like this pic though ('cos I look good, duh).
This. Is officially the biggest bonfire I've EVER seen in my life. In England they celebrate the day this guy tried to blow up the Parliament building by lighting this really huge bonfire.
I know, they're weird. What can I say? :P
Imagine if we'd had this sort of bonfire during campfires though. We'd probably have burned the whole of Taman SEA down. >.<
But I'm sidetracking. Bonfire Night, or Guy Fawkes Night, is basically an(other) excuse for everyone to go out, party like there's no tomorrow and get piss drunk, only this time they have it with fireworks.
Fireworks!
V for Vendetta? :P
Since you busybodies keep complaining that you guys don't know who my BF is / what he looks like / whether he's hot or not here's a pic of us at Bonfire Night, before our faces started to burn up and melt from the heat. From the fire lah.
Perverted sickos.
:P
Fast forward to yesterday. It was Saad's birthday, so in return for him surprising me on my birthday, I decided to surprise HIM by walking all the way to his hall early in the morning.
I had two co-conspirators, Oana and Enrico. Oana woke up to walk ALL THE WAY to Devonshire Hall with me at 7.30am, and Enrico, Saad's flatmate, came down to open the door for us.
Of course there was the dilemma of how we'd open my dear BF's room door, but Enrico was a bloody genius.
Enrico: *knocks on Saad's door* Dude, you gotta wake up, the cleaning lady's here.
...
CLEANING LADY!
Lol....
And you can imagine the rest. Door opens, I jump inside screaming 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!', stepping on Saad's toe in the process >.<
Me and my very-obviously half-asleep BF. :P
Then last night, the city had this Christmas Lights Switchon thing. Can you imagine? They turn on the Christmas lights in November. No wonder we have an energy crisis.
Plus, we went so early and stood around shivering in the cold, and the entertainment was SOOOOOO BAAAAAADDD that we left even before they switched on the lights.
View of the crowd.
Oana, Elaine and me!!!
~~~

OK that's all for now. Hopefully I won't neglect this blog for too long again. :P

Ciaoz people!

Quote of the Day

(Coursemates are talking about our professor)

Adam: He's so animated! I mean he's like so funny! He's such a huge stereotype!

Steven: Stereotype? Of what? A scientist?

Adam: I dunno, a stereotype of something!

Me: *blinks*

~~~
Sometimes I think British people are the funniest people on earth.
Lol.
